  What a busy week! After Uncle Danny left, Grandpa Dan came from North Carolina to visit and did his best to guess what Spencer is going to be when he grows up. Then Mom, Dad and Spencer loaded onto a plane to New Brunswick to visit Steven's family and Jess' grandmother. Spencer didn't mind the plane, especially since he got a free seat all to himself, both ways! He really liked meeting all his NB family, since he loves looking at new faces and getting lots of attention. He got pretty sick of his carseat by the last day, after about 8 hours in the car and 2 hours on the plane, but slept really well his first night back at home ... but that might have been because Mom and Dad messed up and set the heat much too high in his room ... we're guessing he's going to like the tropics!

  Spencer's Uncle Danny came to visit from NB and just left today; Spencer loved having him here and has really started to smile and laugh in the last few days. Jess and Steven loved having him here too, and had "date night" while Uncles Danny and Mike babysat. As long as he's in the right mood, Spencer can entertain himself for upwards of 30 minutes swatting at Big Bird and Elmo, who hang above him while he's on his mat. His favorite place, though, seems to be his changetable!

  In his third week, Spencer has begun to catch on that nighttime is for sleeping ... at least in 2 hour stints. We are slowly filling in the blanks to his instruction manual: figuring out what puts him to sleep, what calms his crying and what makes him happy. He doesn't seem to mind Dad the Paparazzi, and we think that he's starting to smile a little! He and Mom are going out a little more now, too.
  
  Also, a belated congratulations to Ike, who, despite not having been at the shower (and being a boy), won the Baby 50/50 coming closest to Spencer's birth weight and time. Thanks to Ike for donating his proceeds back into diapers!
